These amazing Pork Buns take some time to prepare but produce an amazing flavour and freshness. Great party snack or lunchtime treat for the whole family. 

BBQ Pork Buns

INGREDIENTS
6 steamed buns
60ml hoisin sauce
2 tsp sugar
1/4 bunch mint
1/4 cup green shallots
1 cup glass noodle
Chilli & Hot Sauce
1/3 cup Shiro Spice Mix
1 tbs light soy sauce
800g pork neck
Cut into 6cm strips
2 tbs honey

 

DIRECTIONS
For the pork, combine Shiro spice, soy sauce and honey in a
large glass or ceramic bowl.
Add pork and toss to coat. Cover and place in the fridge for 8
hours or overnight to marinate.
Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan forced.
Line a baking tray with baking paper. Transfer pork to tray,
keep leftover marinade. Roast for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and baste with reserved marinade.
Preheat a pan on high and pan fry for 2-3 minutes each side or
until starting to char. Then rest for 5 minutes.
Cook glass noodles in boiling water till soft, allow to cool.
Combine the hoisin and sugar in a small bowl and add to
noodles. Mix till all noodles are coated.
Chop mint, shallots and Chilli.
Warm steamed buns (use normal bread buns if desired)
Carefully open each bun and fill with pork, noodles, mint and
shallots. Chilli and Hot Sauce to taste
Serve warm.
