3 Top Cooking Methods – Based on a 2cm thick steak

1. One turn pan method – Place steak in hot pan and leave to cook on one side then turn and cook on the other side using the times below for the desired finish.
Once cooked leave to rest for 1/2 the cooking time.
Rare – 2-3 minutes either side
Medium – 4 minutes either side
Well Done – 5-6 minutes either side

2. Constant turn pan method – Place steak in hot pan and cook by turning the steak every 15-20 seconds for the times shown below. This method is based on constantly turning and basting the meat in its own juices and fats.
Rare – 2-3 minutes
Medium – 4 minutes
Well Done – 5-6 minutes

3. Pan and Oven Method – Place steak in hot pan and leave to cook for 1 minute on each side, or until you get a nice colour and seal. Then place the steak in the oven to finish cooking. This method is gentle cooking method where the heat focus is no as intense as a hot pan. Also a better method for thicker cuts of meat.

Rare – 1 minutes either side in pan & 3 minutes in 180 degree C oven
Medium – 1 minutes either side in pan & 7 minutes in 180 degree C oven
Well Done – 1 minutes either side in pan & 10 minutes in 180 degree C oven

However you like cooking your steak these three methods will give you consistent quality with your cooking. If you steak is thinner, decrease the time, if it is thicker, increase the time. Happy Grilling.
